NOVA YORK – A Warner Music Group e o YouTube estão finalizando um acordo que permitiria que o site voltasse a ter videoclipes de artistas como Madonna e Green Day, segundo fontes.
O acordo resolveria a disputa sobre direitos de licença que levou a Warner Music a retirar os videoclipes de seus artistas do YouTube em dezembro.
O YouTube e a Warner, terceira maior gravadora do mundo, não quiseram comentar sobre o assunto.
Um acordo significaria que o catálogo de músicos da Warner poderia novamente ser visto no site de vídeos, junto com os artistas da EMI Music , Sony Music Entertainment, da Sony, e Universal Music Group, da Vivendi, todas as quais renovaram o acordo.
Os detalhes financeiros ainda são incertos, mas o CEO da Warner Music, Edgar Bronfman, já afirmou que quer termos melhores que os de seu último acordo com o YouTube. Como outros executivos da indústria musical, ele enfrenta um mercado que tem sofrido com a queda nas vendas de CDs e o fraco crescimento das vendas de música digital.
O negócio também pode abrir as portas para que a Warner tenha um papel no novo site de videoclipes Vevo, que conta com o apoio da Universal e da Sony e será baseado na plataforma tecnológica do YouTube.
No momento, as negociações entre Warner e Vevo estão ainda em “fase inicial” e podem gerar uma série de questões conflituosas, afirmou uma fonte.
